In this case, a 2012 Melroe Bobcat Skid Steer is stolen in Upper Southampton, PA, and recovered thirty minutes away in Philadelphia by local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system installed on the machine.

On March 26th, 2014, the Melroe’s owners contacted the Upper Southampton Police to report that their machine was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Bobcat.

A while later, officers from the Philadelphia Police Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Melroe was located on Frontenac St, a residential street in northeast Philadelphia, where it was parked and abandoned. Officers retrieved the skid steer, valued at $35,000, and soon returned it to its grateful owners.
