On a recent Friday evening, the owner of a Toyota Corolla discovered it missing from the parking lot of her apartment complex in Santa Rosa, CA. Thanks to the great work of local law enforcement, assisted by the LoJack® system, the car was recovered and the suspect arrested the next day.

On April 18th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Santa Rosa Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Community Chevrolet in Burbank, CA.

Early the next morning, deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located parked at a strip mall in Santa Rosa. As police approached, a suspect entered the car and tried to drive off. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a strip mall in north Santa Rosa where the stolen Toyota was parked. Officers then observed a suspect enter the vehicle car and attempt to drive off. Officers stopped the stolen car and arrested the driver. The Corolla was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
