Early on a recent Friday morning, the owner of a 2011 Honda Civic discovered it was missing from its parking spot in front of her residence in San Francisco, CA. Thanks to the efforts of local law enforcement, and assistance from the LoJack® system installed inside the vehicle, the car was recovered in less than an hour after activation.

On April 18th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the San Francisco Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Berkeley Honda in Berkeley, CA.

A short while later, California Highway Patrol officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located in the downtown area of San Francisco, where it was parked and abandoned on a side street. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
