- recovery stories
When the owners of a Toyota Sienna in West Covina, CA, discovered their minivan was missing, they had a sneaking suspicion that it was stolen by someone they knew. Local police, with help from the LoJack® system installed in the vehicle, were able to recover it and apprehend the thief that same day.
On April 7th, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted the West Covina Police Department to report that their minivan was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Sienna, which was installed at Puente Hills Toyota in City of Industry, CA, was then automatically activated.
Just a few minutes later, flight officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen minivan on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their air unit. The Toyota was located in the area of Vanowen Street and Oakdale Ave., where it was parked and abandoned. The suspected thief was soon apprehended in the area and taken into custody. The Sienna was retrieved and soon returned to its appreciative owners.
