The owner of a 2014 Honda CR-V in East Los Angeles, CA, discovered that a female acquaintance had stolen both his keys and his SUV. Thanks to the LoJack® system that he had installed in the vehicle, it didn’t take local law enforcement long to recover the SUV and capture the suspected thief.

On April 11th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department East LA Station to report that his vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at Goudy Honda in Alhambra, CA.

A short while later, officers from the California Highway Patrol in Santa Fe Springs picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was found parked and abandoned in the lot of a motel on Imperial Highway in Norwalk. The suspect’s driver’s license was inside the vehicle. Motel management informed police that three guests in a room had arrived in that SUV. All three identified the suspect who returned to the scene and was taken into custody. The CR-V, valued at $20,800, was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
