It was very early in the morning on a recent Wednesday when a Tacoma, WA resident discovered an acquaintance had taken his BMW 745i from his driveway without permission the previous evening. Thanks to the LoJack® system installed in the car, it took police less than two hours to recover it and take the thief into custody.

On March 19th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted Tacoma Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 745i, which was installed at Long Beach BMW in Long Beach, CA.

A short while later, a Tacoma PD officer received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car.  The BMW was located on South 51st Street where it was found parked and abandoned.  The undamaged 745i was soon returned to its relieved owner.
