When the owner of a Mercedes Benz CLK55 in Bakersfield, CA discovered his car had been stolen, he was grateful that the LoJack® system had been installed when the car was purchased. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, located his vehicle in less than an hour after activation.

On March 9th, 2014 the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Bakersfield Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the CLK55, which was installed at the House of Imports in Buena Park, CA.

About thirty minutes later, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the Mercedes on the second level of a multi-story parking structure at a business complex near downtown Bakersfield, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged CLK55 was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
