The owner of a Ford F-550 work truck was understandably upset to discover it missing from his driveway when he woke up on a recent Thursday morning. Not only was it his transportation, but it contained the tools he needed to do his job. It’s a good thing he chose to protect his vehicle with the LoJack® system. Local police, assisted by LoJack, took only 11 minutes after activation to recover the pickup.

On February 6th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the Citrus Height Police and reported the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-550.

Just a few minutes later, officers with the California Highway Patrol and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department began to receive the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers then located the Ford, parked and abandoned on a residential street in North Highlands. The F-550 was undamaged and the majority of the construction tools, valued over $3500, were still contained in the tool bins in the rear of the truck. The owner was thrilled to get his vehicle returned to him.
