The Citrus Heights, CA resident in this case went outside to start up his Chevrolet Tahoe before leaving for work on a recent Monday morning, then went back inside for a cup of coffee. That span of a few minutes was all an enterprising thief needed to slip into the driver’s seat and drive away in the SUV. The LoJack® system that was installed when the Tahoe was purchased proved its value by helping local police recover the vehicle in less than a half hour after activation.

On February 10th, 2014, the Chevy’s owner immediately contacted the Citrus Heights Police and reported the theft. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tahoe, which was installed at Sands Chevrolet in Glendale, AZ.

Just a few minutes later, deputies with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department began to receive the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies quickly located the Chevy parked and abandoned on Mercy Street in Fair Oaks. The Tahoe was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
