It was very early indeed- just after 4:30 am on a Saturday- when the owner of the Cadillac Escalade in this case discovered his SUV was missing from his driveway in San Jose, CA. Because he chose to have the LoJack® system installed when he bought his Caddy, it took local law enforcement less than an hour after activation to recover it.

On February 1st, 2014, the Cadillac’s owner reported the theft to the San Jose Police. Officers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Escalade, which was installed at Michael Cadillac in Fresno, CA, was then automatically activated.

Minutes later, Oakland PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  They located the Caddy on a side street in Oakland where the car was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Escalade was soon returned to its relieved owners, who told police that this was the third time in four years that the SUV had been stolen and recovered by police assisted by LoJack.
