The owner of an Ingersoll Rand Bobcat skid steer left his machine in a fenced yard near the 680 Freeway over the weekend. He was shocked to arrive Monday morning and find his equipment gone. The LoJack® system installed on the machine helped police make a safe recovery.

On February 24th, 2014, the Bobcat’s reported the theft to the California Highway Patrol in San Jose. Troopers verified the theft and entered the equipment’s information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the skid steer.

A short while later, deputies with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department began to receive the homing silent signal from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the John Deere in a rural residential area in Woodland. The skid steer was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
