The owner of an Acura TL in Van Nuys, CA picked up a friend and brought her over to his house for a visit, and she ‘repaid the favor’ by stealing his keys and taking off in his car. The LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased saved the day, helping local law enforcement recover it in just 10 minutes after activation.

On March 3rd, 2014, the Acura’s owner contacted police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the TL, which was installed at Metro Acura in Montclair, CA, was then automatically activated.

Just a few minutes later, area patrol officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Acura to the area of 9th Street and Sycamore Ave, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a short surveillance, the suspect returned to the car and drove away, but was quickly stopped by police and taken into custody. The TL was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
