The owners of a Hyundai Santa Fe were visiting their vacation home just outside Lindsay, CA, when a suspect kicked in their front door, robbed them and drove off in their SUV. These victims were glad that they had the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their vehicle. With LoJack’s assistance, local police were able to recover the Santa Fe that same day.

On March 4th, 2014, the victims immediately reported the crime to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Santa Fe, which was installed at Cormier Chevrolet in Long Beach, CA.

Later that same day, a California Highway Patrol flight crew began to receive a homing signal from the stolen SUV on its onboard LoJack tracking computer. The Santa Fe was located parked and unoccupied in a fitness center lot. Ground units were directed to the location. After a brief surveillance, a suspect exited the vehicle and was promptly taken into custody. The Santa Fe was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
