The owner of a 2013 Nissan Juke probably thought he was playing it safe when he parked his car in a pay lot rather than on the street in San Francisco, CA, one Tuesday evening. He was unpleasantly surprised when he arrived back at the lot and the attendant told him someone else had paid the fee, been handed the keys, and taken his car. Luckily, this victim was smart enough to have had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his vehicle. Local police, assisted by LoJack, took less than two hours after activation to recover his Juke.

On March 4th, 2014, the Nissan’s owner contacted San Francisco Police to report the theft. Officers verified the crime and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Juke, which was installed at Nissan San Francisco, CA.

A short time later, officers from San Francisco PD received the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. SFPD units located the Nissan in the Bay View Area of San Francisco where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Juke was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
