The San Diego, CA resident in this case discovered his Toyota Prius missing from his home on a recent Saturday afternoon. Thanks to the LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his vehicle, local police were able to recover it in less than three hours after activation.

On February 22nd, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Prius, which was installed at Kearny Mesa Toyota in San Diego, CA, was then automatically activated.

Just a few minutes later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located in a commercial area on Grand Avenue, where it was found parked and unoccupied. Police retrieved the undamaged Prius and soon returned it to its very happy owner.
