Recovering stolen cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles quickly and safely is the ultimate goal of the LoJack® system. In this case, a BMW 528i stolen on a Tuesday afternoon in San Diego, CA, is recovered by police, assisted by LoJack, in just over two hours after activation.

On February 18th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the 528i, which was installed at Cunningham BMW in El Cajon, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers located the BMW parked and abandoned in a residential neighborhood. The undamaged 528i was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
