It was early on a recent Saturday evening when the owners of a Chevrolet Tahoe discovered their SUV was missing from their Downey, CA home.  Thanks to local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system, it wasn’t missing for long. With LoJack’s help, police recovered the SUV in less than 70 minutes after activation.

On February 8th, 2014, the Chevy’s owners contacted the Downey Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.  The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Tahoe, which was installed at Connell Chevrolet in Mesa, CA.

A short while later, a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department airship and LASD Lakewood patrol deputies picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The Chevy was located at a duplex on Lakewood Boulevard. A male occupant was parking it in a tenant stall. As the deputies approached, the driver fled on foot but was soon apprehended. The Tahoe was soon returned to its thankful owner.
