In this case, a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan is stolen from its owner’s residence in Los Angeles, CA, and recovered adjacent to the Mexican Border thanks to local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system.

On February 12th, 2014, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department-Norwalk Division to report that his minivan was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Grand Caravan, which was installed at Toyota of Whittier, CA.

Within a few hours, California Highway Patrol Foreign Export Auto Theft Team Investigators picked up the homing signals from the stolen minivan on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol units.  The officers found the Dodge abandoned in a Border Holding Parking lot on Roll Road, located near the Otay San Diego, U.S.A. Tijuana, Mexico border crossing in the city of San Diego. After a brief surveillance, the Grand Caravan was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
