This Bell Gardens, CA resident found out the hard way that he left the keys in his Ford Mustang- he looked out the window late one Thursday morning and discovered his car was gone. The decision to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased the car proved to be a smart one- with LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the Mustang in less than two and a half hours after activation.

On January 2nd, 2014, the Ford’s owner reported his vehicle stolen to Bell Gardens Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Mustang, which was installed at Villa Ford in Orange, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a deputy with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department East LA station picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy contacted LASD Air-7 for backup. The Ford was found being operated in the Bell Gardens area. The air unit directed officers on the ground to Watcher St., where a female driver had parked the car and entered a residence. Ground units took the driver into custody, retrieved the Mustang and soon returned it to its happy owner.
