When a ‘friend’ borrowed her Dodge Nitro without permission, the Santa Monica, CA resident in this case was glad she had the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her car. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the Nitro in just over a half hour after activation.

On December 31st, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Santa Monica Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Nitro, which was installed at CarMax in Inglewood, CA, was then automatically activated.

A half hour later,  Santa Monica PD officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol units. The officers located the Dodge on Indiana Street, where it had been parked and abandoned. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the named suspect. The Nitro was soon returned to its thankful owner.
