This past New Year’s Eve didn’t start out very well for the San Pablo, CA resident in this case. He discovered his Mercedes Benz SL500 missing from his home just after 3 in the afternoon. His local police, aided by the LoJack® system, gave his new year a better start by retrieving his car the next day- quickly, safely, and without damage.

On December 31st, 2013, the owner of the Mercedes SL500 contacted San Pablo Police to report the incident. Officers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the SL500, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of White Plains, NY.

A short while later, Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputies picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies, assisted by officers from the Martinez PD, located the stolen car stopped in traffic in Martinez.  The lone driver was arrested and the undamaged SL500 was soon returned to its grateful owner.
