The New Year didn’t start off too well for the Alameda, CA resident in this case, who noticed his 2012 Honda Civic missing from in front of his home that afternoon. The situation improved thanks to the LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his car. His local police, assisted by LoJack, recovered his vehicle in just a half hour after activation.

On January 1st, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the Alameda Police to report the crime. Officers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Round Rock Honda in Round Rock, TX.

Just a few minutes later, Alameda PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Officers located the Honda on the south end of Alameda Island where it was found parked and abandoned on the street. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
