On a recent Tuesday, a Mazda MZ6 was stolen from its owner’s residence in San Diego, CA. The car was not gone for long, though. Thanks to the LoJack® system the owner had installed when buying his vehicle, local police were able to recover it that same day, quickly, safely and without any damage.

On December 10th, 2013, the Mazda’s owner reported the crime to the San Diego Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the MZ6, which was installed at Showcase Pontiac GMC Mazda in Phoenix, AZ.

A short time later, officers from San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the Mazda to a residential neighborhood near Copeland Ave. and El Cajon Blvd., where they found it parked and abandoned. The undamaged MZ6 was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
