This case involves a Honda Civic EX stolen in Yuba City, CA, and recovered in a city more than six hours away, thanks to several law enforcement agencies and assistance from the LoJack® system.

Late in the morning of December 14th, 2013, the Honda’s owner discovered it was missing and reported the theft to the Yuba City Police Department. The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Civic EX which was installed at Yuba City Honda in Yuba City, CA.

A few hours later and 500 miles away in Los Angeles, officers with several law enforcement agencies including Long Beach, Beverly Hills, and the California Highway Patrol all began to receive the homing signal emitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The CHP troopers located the Honda in Beverly Hills, parked and unoccupied in a residential area. It appeared that the suspect saw the police and fled on foot. The Civic EX was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
