The California resident in this case started her Honda Accord to warm it up on a Monday morning, went back inside her house, and glanced out the window just in time to see a male suspect driver away in her car. The thief didn’t know that hidden inside the Accord was the LoJack® system, which assisted local law enforcement in recovering the car in just 20 minutes after activation.

On December 16th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department to report the incident. The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Carmichael Honda in Citrus Heights, CA.

A very short time later, officers with the Stockton PD and the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department both began to receive the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Honda to a residential area near Santa Paula and Ponce De Leon Streets, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, police retrieved the Accord and soon returned it to its relieved owner.
