The California based owners of a 2013 Dodge Journey thought Friday the 13th was their unlucky day when they discovered their SUV was missing. However, the LoJack® system they had installed when purchasing their vehicle turned their luck from bad to good when it assisted local law enforcement in recovering the Journey in just over a half hour after installation.

On December 13th, 2013, the Dodge’s owners contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in Pico Rivera to report their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Journey, which was installed at Poway Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Poway, CA.

A very short time later, deputies with the LASD Pico Rivera Station picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The deputies tracked the Dodge to Washington Boulevard, where they found it parked and unoccupied.  The undamaged Journey was soon returned to its thankful owners.
