The Anaheim, CA resident in this case left his Dodge Caravan parked and running while he entered a convenience store to get coffee on a recent Saturday morning. As he was exiting, he saw his van being driven away by a male in a white hard hat. The victim immediately contacted local police, who activated the LoJack® system concealed in the Caravan and recovered it in less than an hour after activation.

On December 7th, 2013, the Dodge’s owner reported the crime to Anaheim Police.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Caravan, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Orange, CA.

A short while later, officers with the Anaheim PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen van with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the Dodge to the parking lot of an apartment complex in Anaheim, where it was parked and unoccupied. At the scene, a witness told officers he saw a male wearing a white hard hat park the vehicle and walk through a hole in the chain link fence bordering the complex.  The officers followed the path and found a homeless encampment near the 911 freeway.  At the encampment they found the suspect and took him into custody. The undamaged Caravan was recovered and quickly returned to its relieved owner.
