The owner of a 2008 Toyota Corolla in Fresno, CA, had her vehicle stolen by an acquaintance. She knew the suspect liked to gamble and thought he might have taken her car to a casino. This victim didn’t like to take chances- she had the LoJack® system installed when purchasing her car, so local police were able to recover it in just three minutes after activation.

On November 27th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Autoland in Fresno, CA.

Just three minutes later, an FCSD deputy picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy tracked the Toyota parked and abandoned, right around the corner from a casino. The suspect was found sitting at a card table playing poker, and was taken into custody. The undamaged Corolla was soon returned to its relieved owner.
