Just after lunchtime on a recent Sunday, this Norwalk, CA resident discovered her 2012 Toyota Tundra was missing from her driveway. The LoJack® system she had installed when purchasing her pickup just nine months before came to the rescue, helping local police recover the truck in just over one hour after activation.

On December 1st, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Norwalk Station to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Norwalk Toyota in Norwalk, Ca, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, LASD Norwalk deputies picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the Toyota to a residential area just a few blocks from the victim’s residence, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Tundra was recovered and soon returned to its happy owner.
