The owner of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze parked her car at her North Sacramento, CA residence on Tuesday evening, and the next day, it was gone. The LoJack® system she had installed when purchasing her vehicle earlier this year proved to be a worthwhile investment because, with LoJack’s assistance, local police were able to recover the Cruze in just nine minutes after activation.

On November 27th, 2013, the Chevy’s owner reported the theft to the California Highway Patrol in North Sacramento. The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Cruze, which was installed at John L. Sullivan Chevrolet in Roseville, CA.

Just a few minutes later, officers from the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento PD and Citrus Heights PD all began to receive the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked and located the vehicle parked and unoccupied on the street near a shopping mall. The Cruze was retrieved and soon returned to its very relieved owner.
