Locating a stolen vehicle fast is one of the hallmarks of the LoJack® system. The quicker a stolen car, truck van or motorcycle is retrieved, the less chance the thieves have to cause any harm to it. Every once in a while, we have a case where recovery is amazingly, incredibly fast- as in this example, where a GMC Yukon stolen in California is found in just five minutes after activation.

On November 6th, 2013, the GMC’s owner contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Yukon.

Just a few minutes later, deputies from San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The deputies tracked the GMC driving through a residential area in Imperial Beach, where a traffic stop was performed and the two occupants arrested. The owner was very happy to have his undamaged Yukon returned to him.
