This case involves a Honda Civic stolen in California and located in Texas by police assisted by the LoJack® system. The tracking officers also found (and broke up) a chop shop operation at the recovery site.

On November 19th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Universal City Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Avery Greene Motors in Vallejo, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, the flight crew of a San Antonio, TX police helicopter picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their airship. They alerted ground units to join in, and tracked the Honda to the driveway of a private home. After a brief surveillance, two suspects exited the home and were arrested. In the garage, offices found two sports bikes and a large number of auto parts believed to be from other stolen vehicles. The Civic was recovered and soon returned to its thankful owner.
