When the owner of a 2011 Acura MDX arrived home late one Wednesday afternoon, the bad news hit him like a sledge hammer- not only had his home been burglarized, but the crooks had left in his SUV. The LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his MDX proved to be a smart investment. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered his vehicle in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On November 13th, 2013, the Acura’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the crime. SDPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the MDX, which was installed at Kearny Mesa Acura in San Diego, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood on Fleming Street in San Diego, where it was found parked and abandoned.   The owner was very happy to have his undamaged MDX returned to him.
