The Los Angeles, CA residents in this case not only were the victims of a home burglary, but had their 2011 Volvo S40 stolen as well. The LoJack® system the owners had installed when purchasing their car made this stressful day a little less so by helping local law enforcement recover their vehicle in less than an hour after activation.

On November 12th, 2013, the Volvo’s owners contacted local police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the S40, which was installed at Galpin Mercury Mazda in Van Nuys, CA.

Just a few minutes later, patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their police vehicles. The officers tracked and located the vehicle, parked and abandoned, in the area of Tiara and Tujunga. Detectives from the local auto theft task force began surveillance. When the Volvo was moved, a traffic stop was enforced and a suspect taken into custody. The S40 was soon returned to its very grateful owners.
