When a Downey, CA resident left her GMC Yukon running and unlocked in her driveway while going back into her home, the temptation was just too much for a passing thief who made off with her SUV before she could return. The LoJack® system she had installed when purchasing her vehicle proved its value by helping local law enforcement recover it in less than two hours after activation.

On November 11th, 2013, the GMC’s owner contacted the Downey Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Yukon, which was installed at Cerritos Pontiac GMC in Cerritos, CA.

A short time later, deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department- Century Station picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Deputies tracked the GMC to the city of South Gate, and located it parked at a curb with a female in the passenger seat and a male standing next to the driver door.  The deputies detained both subjects.  The Yukon’s owner was very grateful to have the SUV returned to her.
