When the owners of a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu had the LoJack® system installed in their car, they likely did not expect that just three months later, their vehicle would be stolen and recovered by their local police assisted by LoJack.

On October 14th, 2013, the Chevy’s owners contacted their local police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Malibu, which was installed at Felix Chevrolet-Cadillac in Los Angeles, CA.

A short while later, officers on patrol picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a hotel on Crenshaw Boulevard.  A police air unit responded to assist, and observed the Malibu leaving the hotel parking lot. Ground officers stopped the vehicle and took the driver and passenger into custody. The Chevy was soon returned to its very grateful owners.
