The Volkswagen Eos in this case was discovered missing in San Diego, CA, just after lunch one Tuesday afternoon. Thanks to the efforts of local police, aided by the LoJack® system, the car was recovered in a little over three hours after activation.

On October 15, 2013, the owner of the VW contacted the San Diego Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the EOS, which was installed at Miramar Volkswagen- Audi in San Diego, CA.

A short time later, officers from the SDPD Helicopter Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter.  The officers tracked the VW to a commercial neighborhood, where it was parked and abandoned. The owner of the Eos was thrilled to get his undamaged car returned to him.
