The LoJack® system offers a great benefit to vehicle owners- the chance to get their stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle back fast, before the thief gets a chance to relocate it, wreck it, or take it apart. In this case, a Volkswagen Jetta stolen in Chula Vista, CA, is recovered by police assisted by LoJack in just one hour and 12 minutes after activation.

On October 3rd, 2013, the Volkswagen’s owner contacted the Chula Vista Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Volkswagen, which was installed at Bob Baker Volkswagen in Carlsbad, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, investigators from the San Diego Regional Auto Theft Task Force picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The investigators tracked the VW to a residential area in National City, where it was parked and unoccupied.  After a brief surveillance, a suspect was observed entering the Jetta and was arrested.  The undamaged VW was soon returned to its relieved owner.
