This San Francisco, CA resident got an unpleasant surprise when she exited a mall after doing some shopping one Friday morning- her 2012 Toyota Prius was gone. Another item this victim purchased came in handy right about now- the LoJack® system she had installed when buying her vehicle- which enabled her local police to recover her car that same day.

On October 11th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted San Francisco Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Prius, which was installed at Roseville Toyota in Roseville, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, San Francisco PD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers located the Prius behind a factory in the southern part of San Francisco, where it was parked and abandoned. The Toyota was soon returned to its relieved owner.
