It’s difficult to locate one single piece of construction equipment hidden amongst a large group of machines with the naked eye. The LoJack® system makes it a little easier for law enforcement by sending a silent signal that helps them pinpoint and recover the exact vehicle no matter how many others surround it.

On October 11th, 2013, the employee in charge of a 2013 Sullair 49 HP 185 Air Compressor contacted the California Highway Patrol in San Diego to report that his machine was missing from a construction site. CHP verified the theft and entered the construction equipment information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Sullair Compressor.

2013 Sullair San Diego-Recovery

A short time later, officers from the San Diego area CHP and the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the construction equipment to a residential area near East Hyatt Street in San Diego. The compressor was parked toward the rear of a residence hidden between other commercial vehicles.  The machine’s operator was very happy to have his undamaged Sullair returned. The air compressor was valued at approximately $20,000.
