The LoJack® system does not discriminate. Whether the person taking your car, truck, van or motorcycle is a relative, a friend, or a total stranger, whether they are using your keys or they hot-wired the ignition, LoJack can be activated by police to aid in the retrieval of your vehicle. In this case, the car was recovered the same day.

On September 28th, 2013, Seal Beach, CA police were contacted by the owners of a 2010 Mazda M6 who reported that their car was stolen from their residence by their son. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the M6, which was installed at Long Beach Lincoln Mercury Mazda in Long Beach, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Air 21 picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their aircraft. The flight crew tracked the Mazda to Artesia Blvd in Bellflower and contacted ground units. The ground conducted a vehicle stop. The female driver was the girlfriend of the suspect and was taken into custody. The M6 was soon returned to its very relieved owners.
