The victim in this case was visiting Fresno, CA, and discovered his Chevrolet Astro van missing from his motel’s parking lot just after midnight one Monday. The van owner was glad he chose to have the LoJack® system installed when buying his vehicle, because, with LoJack’s help, the police were able to recover it in just 8 minutes after activation.

On October 14th, 2013, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Fresno Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Astro, which was installed at Maurice J. Sopp Chevrolet in Bell, CA.

Just a few minutes later, an officer from the Fresno PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen van with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the Chevy to a residential area near First Street and Grant Avenue in central Fresno, where it was found unoccupied and abandoned, parked in front of a residence. The undamaged Astro van was soon returned to its happy owner.
