The Mazda 626 in this case was stolen around dinner time one Sunday in EL Cajon, CA. Though it was the weekend, both local police and the LoJack® system were on the job, recovering the car in less than one hour after activation.

On October 6th, 2013, the Mazda’s owner contacted the El Cajon Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mazda, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales- El Cajon in Gardena, CA.

A short time later, officers from El Cajon PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a commercial neighborhood on West Main Street in El Cajon. The driver attempted to evade the officers but was stopped and arrested. The undamaged Mazda was soon returned to its relieved owner.
