When a car, truck, van or motorcycle is stolen, it is imperative to locate it was quickly as possible. The faster it is found, the less time the perpetrators have to damage it. In this case, a truck stolen in Cerritos, CA, is recovered in less than three hours after activation, thanks to the Costa Mesa Police assisted by the LoJack® system.

On September 11th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department- Cerritos Station to report their vehicle stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Sequoia, which was installed at Power Toyota in Cerritos, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers with the Costa Mesa PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Toyota to the parking lot of a motel on Newport Boulevard, where it was found unoccupied, with the hood and trunk open. A male approached the vehicle and was taken into custody. Upon searching the Sequoia, officers found personal items not belonging to the victim. Based on the property located in the vehicle, officers were able to identify a room at the motel that was registered to the owner of the items in the SUV. Two people inside the room were arrested, and police found stolen checks and drug paraphernalia. The Toyota was recovered and soon returned to its happy owner.
