The Toyota Camry in this case was taken just before midnight on a Friday. Despite the lateness of the hour, local law enforcement, with the help of the LoJack® system, recovered the SUV in just two hours and 11 minutes after activation.

On September 27th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington, TX.

A short time later, SDPD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to Murphy Canyon Road in San Diego. A male suspect was observed sitting in the Camry driver’s seat. He attempted to flee in the car but was soon stopped and taken into custody. The undamaged Toyota was soon returned to its very happy owner.
