In this case, police air and ground units combine forces with the LoJack® system to recover a stolen 2008 Toyota Highlander in less than two and a half hours after activation.

On September 25th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Toyota, which was installed at Mossy Toyota in San Diego, CA.

A short time later, officers from the San Diego PD Air Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their helicopters. The air officers tracked the vehicle to Mission Street in San Diego and contacted ground units. The ground officers recovered the Toyota and arrested one suspect. The owner was very happy that his Highlander was recovered undamaged.
