Late one Saturday night, this Carteret, NJ resident got the shock of his life when he returned home to find that his home had been robbed and his 2010 Toyota Tundra truck had been stolen. The victim did have one advantage over the thief- he had a LoJack® system installed when he bought his truck, which helped local law enforcement track, recover, and return the truck to its owner without damage.

On September 7th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Carteret, NJ Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Toyota of Hackensack, NJ.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the New York City PD picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the Toyota to a parking lot where the vehicle was found abandoned. The undamaged Tundra was soon returned to its relieved owner.
