A 2012 Lincoln Navigator was stolen as part of a home burglary in San Diego, CA recently. The owner had chosen to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his SUV, and the local police using LoJack were able to recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On September 23rd, 2013, the Lincoln’s owner contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Navigator, which was installed at Galpin Jaguar Lincoln Volvo in Van Nuys, CA.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Santa Barbara Police and deputies from the Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle traveling northbound on the 101 freeway. After a short pursuit, the Lincoln was stopped and the suspect was taken into custody. The Navigator, valued at $45,200, was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
