The LoJack® Early Warning System is an enhanced version of LoJack that not only helps police in tracking a stolen vehicle, but informs the vehicle owner when it’s being moved without their permission. The owner receives messages by phone, text and email so that they can contact police right away and get their stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle back quickly. In this case, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado stolen in California is recovered in just two hours after activation.

On September 9th, 2013, the Chevy’s owners contacted Placentia Police to report their vehicle stolen after receiving a LoJack Early Warning alert. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Silverado, which was installed at Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers with the Santa Ana PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a tire shop in Santa Ana. One suspect was arrested at the scene. The undamaged Silverado was soon returned to its grateful owner.
