Pomona, California Police Recover Stolen Acura Integra in Two Hours, 28 Minutes, and Break up Chop Shop, Assisted by the LoJack® System

The purpose of the LoJack® system is to assist law enforcement in the recovery of stolen cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles and construction equipment. Sometimes, police will recover additional stolen items as well, as in this case, where police tracking a stolen Acura Integra in San Bernardino find many other stolen vehicles and parts in an illegal chop shop.
On September 15th, 2013, the Acura’s owners contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Integra, which was installed at Keyes Acura in Van Nuys, CA.
A short time later, officers from the Pomona PD picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They followed the signal to a garage on East Alvarado Street. In addition to the Acura, the officers observed several other cars on the property that were been partially disassembled. A suspect at the property admitted to running a ‘chop shop’- purchasing stolen vehicles and selling their parts- and was taken into custody. The Integra, which had only minor damage, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
